Get in some history and be entertained all at once. This place has been packing the house since the 1950s. It was renovated in 2007, and while it retains its classic charm, it has all the modern conveniences that allow seeing everything from The Nutcracker to Madonna tributes, plus more!

Find memorable backdrops in Wynwood. 

Just 25 humble years ago, there was nothing happening in Wynwood. It was mostly a deserted warehouse district that had only a smattering of little galleries. Suddenly, with the boom of street art, the area experienced a true art renaissance. Now you can walk through it and stop in the many cafés and galleries to refresh from the intense heat of the Miami streets.

See something not suitable for children. 

Those traveling with kids will want to find something else to do (more on that in a moment), but for everyone else, the World Erotic Art Museum is an interesting stop to make while in Miami. There are paintings, pop culture props, sculptures, and loads more, all of inappropriate materials that, no matter how lax you are, are sure to make you blush.

Blind the family with science. 

If you’ve taken the whole family along to Miami, then make sure to stop at the Frost Science Museum. Even if you don’t have kids, it’s impossible not to be impressed with the aquarium you can walk underneath and the recreation of the Everglades.

Visit Vizcaya 

The beauty of Vizcaya is hard to put into words. The ornate rooms, the lush gardens, the sparkling water… it’s a lovely landmark that all ages will love!

Eat stone crabs. 

If you visit Miami between October and May, you shouldn’t head back home until you’ve tried stone crabs. The best place to try them is legendary Joe’s Stone Crab, a restaurant that has been open for over 100 years.

Get a taste of authentic Cuban food. 

To truly taste Miami, you need to get authentic Cuban food. You can’t go wrong at Versailles, as it’s one of the top tourist food stops in the city. But if you really want Mom and Pop-style Cuban, make sure you go to Islas Canarias for some of the best croquetas on the planet!

Dine in laid-back waterfront fashion. 

 Miami might seem all glossy, fashionable, and ritzy, but you’ve got to see it without all that glam to really love it. That’s why Monty’s Raw Bar is the ideal unpretentious place to be. Watch the boaters returning to shore while enjoying fresh seafood and strong cocktails. Live music and a mellow vibe await, along with a killer view!

Indulge in Sunday brunch. 

Nikki Beach’s original South Beach location is THE place to be for Sunday brunch. Live the good life with champagne on the beach, toes in the sand, and not a care in the world except deciding whether or not you want to get another crepe or Belgian waffle from the brunch station.

Stop in a Publix. 

Ask any local that’s ever moved away from Florida what they missed most, and the answer will likely be Publix. The supermarket chain is famed for their subs, particularly their chicken tenders sub. Plan a relaxed day on the beach and stop in first to get your sub. Then sit on the beach and enjoy your bounty!

Get real key lime pie. 

It’s a Florida thing, and if you’ve had some weird neon-green pie that someone said was key lime pie, you’re doing it wrong. If you go to Joe’s Stone Crab, cap off your meal with a slice of the legendary state pie. If not, make sure you stop in Blue Collar for comfort food and the most comforting key lime pie of all.

The Cabaret South Beach 

Inside the Shelbourne serves up a cozy, family-friendly atmosphere with true cabaret style. The bartenders and servers will entertain with songs, comedy, dancing, and piano playing. Open Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, you’ll love the dinner and a show you’ll get here.

Let life be a drag in the best way possible. 

Miami’s very open and LGBTQ-friendly lifestyle is extra fun with a drag show at The Palace Bar. Enjoy the music and the drag shows, or come for the brunch. There are weekly happy hours plus a sweet rooftop bar to enjoy if you can’t take the heat!

Grab a drink at Miami’s most historic bar. 

Start off your morning with a Bloody Mary or an Irish coffee at Mac’s Club Deuce, the oldest bar in Miami. This completely casual dive bar is open from 8 am to 5 am every day of the week. If you need a bit of the hair of the dog that bit you last night, this is the place to be to discover history in Miami. sip for sip; plus, it has a 2-for-1 happy hour!

Dance all night. 

Miami Beach is home to some truly legendary nightclubs. If you want to go all out, dress up, and break the bank, you’ve got to visit at least one of the top nightclubs on the beach. Keep your eyes open, and you’re bound to see some notable guests as well. Coming within dancing distance of your favorite celebrities? It’s priceless! LIV in particular has to be at the top of your list. Story is another one that likely has plenty of stories to tell about all that’s gone down there, plus you’ll likely have plenty of stories to tell of your own after dancing ‘til dawn here!

Stay mellow while out on the town.

Want to go out on South Beach without heading to a pulsating club with a cover charge? Head to local favorite, Liquor Lounge. This relaxed place has pool tables, TVs, and drinks at reasonable prices. It’s a great place to grab a couple of drinks before wandering around the city streets and people-watching.

Take a day trip to the Everglades. 

The famous River of Grass is a must-see for any visitor. There’s nothing like this ecosystem in the entire world. Take an airboat ride, walk along the boardwalk to spot gators and other wildlife, and see what you’ve been missing while in the wilds of the city!

Go clothing-optional. 

One of the few places in the US that you can go clothing-optional on a beach is Haulover Beach. No pressure to take it all off; just try to avert your eyes if you dare! Modesty or not, you can find tennis courts and golf here, not to mention hotels, all within walking distance, so there’s no shortage of things to do, just perhaps a shortage of coverings for the other guests.

Make a splash in the Venetian Pool. 

If you’d prefer to swim in a controlled environment, visit the Venetian Pool, crafted from a coral rock quarry in 1923. It’s a gorgeous place where there’s more to do than swim, though the grottos are going to be your favorite part. Pro tip: arrive early because once it reaches max capacity for the day, you won’t be able to get in!

Shop outdoors 

For those coming to Miami to escape frigid temperatures, you’ll love shopping outdoors. Stroll along the Lincoln Road Mall in South Beach, head to Bayside, or indulge in Bal Harbour, the notable Design District.

Head to Zoo Miami. 

Animal lovers of all ages will find plenty to love about Zoo Miami. This zoo famously had flamingos hunkering down in the bathrooms for Hurricane Andrew over 25 years ago. It’s the perfect place to explore a variety of animals from all over the globe in sprawling habitats.

Find serenity now. 

Sometimes, the vibe of Miami can be so strong that one needs a chill spot. You’ll find it at the Miami Beach Botanical Garden. Calming landscaping and Japanese-style gardens await. You can even get in on a yoga session or at least find a quiet place to meditate.

Some of the multi-million dollar residences will blow you away. Walk from just south of 5th Street and South Pointe Parkto take a gander and maybe see someone famous too. Try to time it just before sunset. South Pointe Park is one of the best places to see it!
